Pt. Bukit Perak was founded in 1959 by Mr. Tahir Gunadi (1929-1996) in Semarang Indonesia. The company started its business from producing laundry and detergent soaps.

In 1979 a new automated manufacturing plant was added to improve product variants.

In 1986 a new automated glycerine plant was included to process soap lye capable of producing pharma grade glycerine.

In 1998 new manufacturing plant was built to improve the capacity and more product variants.

In 2006 a new detergent spray tower was incorporated to keep up with detergent powder demand.
