PT. Bukit Perak was established in 1959 by Mr. Tahir Gunadi (1929–1996) in Semarang, Indonesia. Founded on strong technical expertise and a commitment to quality, the company began by manufacturing laundry and detergent soaps to serve the everyday needs of the local market.

A major step forward came in 1979 with the introduction of a new automated manufacturing plant, enabling the company to improve efficiency and expand its product variants. This commitment to modernization continued in 1986, when PT. Bukit Perak established an automated glycerine plant capable of processing soap lye into high-quality pharmaceutical-grade glycerine. This development marked the company’s entry into higher-value oleochemical products and strengthened its position as an integrated manufacturer.

To support growing market demand, a new manufacturing facility was built in 1998, significantly increasing production capacity while allowing for further diversification of product lines. In 2006, PT. Bukit Perak continued its expansion by incorporating a detergent spray tower, enhancing its ability to meet increasing global demand for detergent powder products.

Over time, PT. Bukit Perak evolved beyond its initial product lines. Through continuous investment in technology, skilled workforce development, and process optimization, the company diversified into a comprehensive range of soap and oleochemical products. Today, its portfolio includes soap noodles, personal and home care ingredients, detergent powders, and pharmaceutical-grade glycerine—serving both industrial and consumer product manufacturers.
